Aging with a vengeance means aging with a plan. There is not much in life that turns out well without one. One plans for one's wedding and one's education then follows the plan through. Aging well needs such a plan.

Aging with a vengeance means I plan to get as old as I can and I'm going to do it on purpose. I'm going to do it with forethought and I am going to do it well. I am going to continue to contribute and to be heard. And, of course, I am going to continue to live with enthusiasm.

Unleashing my second fifty years means that the rules are now only suggestions. I am self-determining and self-responsible. I will not be a victim of aging. I can and will create and recreate my look to remain a vital part of society until it is my time to go (at which point I intend to go gracefully).

This book has been written as a series of discussion points. The real power of the book is revealed when groups of women meet, create a safe place to explore ones emotional and physical assets, then proceed, within this affirming environment, to create individual legacies for their second fifty years. No need to rush through the book. The depth within simple truths is more within yourself than on a printed page. This is a time for differentiation, not homogenization. It is not that we think alike but that we better honor the differences amongst us. Explore your potential alone or in groups, but make a plan!

Women seem to be very open about their physical "flaws" but seldom will admit having fabulous physical assets. Explore this book slowly and learn to treat yourself more kindly. It is my wish to create a sisterhood of women who nurture and encourage a true sense of self-love and yes, physical beauty for it exists at every age and in every woman. Form a small group to spend one evening a month exploring a small section of this book and experience the power of shared understanding.

You will learn truths within your group that go deeper than addressed in the book. We ask that you share these insights with us so we can pass them on to the sisterhood of empowered woman.

My goal? For second fifty year women everywhere to be seen, be heard, be kind to themselves as individuals and to engage the sisterhood in ways that make the world a better place for all of us having traveled through it!
